Getting started is completely free -- you can explore introductory courses and get a feel for how Sommy teaches. When you are ready to go deeper, Premium unlocks all courses, AI-guided tastings, and advanced features starting at EUR 5.99 per month. No commitments, cancel anytime with one tap.
We cover everything from wine fundamentals and tasting techniques to deep dives into French wine regions (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne), Italian wines (Chianti, Barolo, Prosecco), California, Spain, Germany, and beyond. New courses on food pairing, natural wine, and sparkling styles are added regularly -- there is always something new to explore.
You do not need to buy wine. Courses teach you theory, vocabulary, and tasting technique through interactive lessons -- no glass required. When you are ready to practice, Sommy suggests wine styles to try, but you can follow along with any bottle you already have at home. A curious palate is the only equipment you need.
Each course has 8 to 15 bite-sized lessons, and a typical lesson takes 5 to 10 minutes. You can complete a full course in about a week of casual learning during your commute or coffee break -- or binge it in a day if you are feeling inspired. There is no pressure to keep pace.
Wine Folly offers excellent reference content, but no interactive learning or hands-on tasting practice. WSET provides formal certification but costs EUR 400 and above per level and requires in-person exams.
